For the January BOM, we'll be doing a heart block by Cluck Cluck Sew. I've linked the original free pattern (https://cluckclucksew.com/2015/01/making-heart-blocks-in-multiple-sizes.html).
Colour palette: Red or pink, solids or prints for the hearts and white for the border and corner pieces.
Fabric:
(2) 4.5in squares in white
(4) 1.5in squares in white
(2) 2.5x8.5in rectangles in white
(2) 2.5x 12.5in rectangles in white
Piecing:
1. Mark the diagonal line on the 4 white squares.
2. Place the 4.5 squares on the bottom of the red/pink pieces as shown, sew ON TOP of the line. Trim to 1/4in seam and press open.
3. Repeat with the 1.5in squares in the top corners. Follow the lines as shown in image. Trim the seam allowance and press open.
4. You should have two heart halves. Place them right sides facing and sew together. Press open. It should be 8.5in both ways, trim before adding border.
5. On the left and right sides, add your 2.5x8.5 in strips. Press
6. On the top and bottom, add your 2.5x 12.5in strips. Press
7. Your block should now measure 12.5x12.5in.
