READY, SET...SEPTEMBER 22nd!
Have you missed us? We've missed you! So much so that we can't wait to get things started this year on Monday, September 22nd at 7:30 pm in the Ottawa Citizen building at 1038 Baxter Road. Mark your calendars, grab your summer projects (we're hoping for our biggest show and tell yet) and get ready to kick things off!
The start of a new membership year means the start of some returning favourites and the beginning of some new segments.
In short, we'll be:
- introducing everyone;
- talking tips and tricks on getting comfortable for show and tells and other OMQG speaking segments;
- introducing a new modern block of the month opportunity (don't worry, you keep your own);
- talking Montreal meet-up details;
- signing up for our first sewing days, bees and swaps;
- talking how to make traditional modern;
- signing up for the MQG Quilt Con Charity Challenge (read full details here and come prepared knowing if you want to get involved); and
- starting sign-ups for our UFO challenge (fall edition) - that's right - bring your twonies and a list of projects you've got on the back burner. We're going to help you cross them off your list and then give you all the inspiration you need to add more :)
We'll also be discussing a brief outline of what's to come in the year - and now is your chance to have input - so don't miss out!
Can't wait to see you all Monday. I'll be there with a smiling face and lots of caffeine.

A Tale of Binding and Quilty Projects
This Sunday marks our April meeting (remember the change of date) and we'll be talking small quilty projects and binding techniques, so be sure to bring some quilty items to share and come prepared to swap binding success and horror stories. We know you have them! And yes, I'm talking to you.
We've got some big, exciting things to talk about, so mark your calendars and bring your tea or coffee. This is a meeting you won't want to miss!

Get Your Calendars Out Again. We've Got Another Date Change
Get your pens and calendars out again...We've got another date change. Our next meeting will be taking place Sunday, April 27th from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm instead of Monday, April 28th. We will still be meeting at the same location in the Ottawa Citizen building.
We know you're always eager beavers ready to get your quilt on, but we won't have early access to the space like we normally do, so please arrive as close to 7:30 pm as possible to give us time to set up for the meeting and make is as great as we can for you.
We're so sorry for the change of plans (again) and hope you'll all be able to make it.

MEETING MARCH 31st
Monday, March 31st is the night! We've got an agenda packed full of fun
and we can't wait to see you all there. All members should have
received a copy of our draft constitution and bylaws via e-mail. Please
be sure to read this over before the meeting to save time. We will have
the document up on the projector, but you may want to bring a printed
copy from home. We will be voting on this document and also on our
registration with the Modern Quilt Guild. If you have any questions in
the meantime, please get in touch with one of the members of the
leadership team.
Also, don't forget we'll be starting our UFO challenge ($2 per item), having our silent auction and sharing our quilty treasures at the donation table. So be sure to come with cash or cheques and get ready to grab some fantastic finds!

CHANGE YOUR CLOCKS AND YOUR CALENDARS
That's right, folks. Not only do you need to remember to change your clocks, but you need to change your calendars, or at least the date for March's OMQG meeting. Same time, same place, but different date. We'll see you all March 31st instead of the 24th.
Be sure to take a quick peak at your e-mails as well. The quilty business fairy was hard at work e-mailing members copies of our proposed constitution and bylaws for voting at our next meeting. We'll also be voting on registration with the Modern Quilt Guild, so you might want to start prepping those arm muscles now...
And don't forget to start collecting loose change and practice emptying your pockets. We'll be having a silent auction (cash or cheque accepted) and registering for our first ever Unfinished Object Challenge ($2 per project).
See you all March 31st! Happy sewing :)

What the Gadget?
Tonight we are talking tools, gadgets, and notions! Bring in your favourite tool, gadget or notion to talk about with the group. Bought some fabulous gadget at a show, but can't remember how to use it? Bring it and chances are someone else will know how to use it and can show us all. Also, bought a tool that you don't recommend? Bring that too!
Don't forget your finishes for Show and Share!
See you there!

BACK-UP PLANS FOR TONIGHT'S MEETING
IMPORTANT:
Please bring some sewing tools (that you love, hate or can't figure
out) with you to tonight's meeting in the event that Laura and tonight's
guest speaker are unable to navigate Highway 7 due to the blowing snow
and white outs. It sounds like the city is in much better condition
than our little town.

New Year's Quilty Intentions
Happy New Year, everyone! If you weren't able to make it to our meeting December 30th, Pam gave an excellent presentation on making (and keeping) quilting resolutions in 2014.
