So In for the Sew-In!

Funny Party Ecard: What happens at the Sew-In, stays at the Sew-In.

On Monday night, we also started the sign-up for our first OMQG Sew-In day! Mark your calendars -- it's Sunday, November 24th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Maki House. A perfect time to get the jump on those holiday gifts, eh? Or to sneak away before the holiday madness begins!

Maki House has plenty of tables and chairs so all you need to bring are your sewing materials, an an extension cord and your lunch. There's free parking in the lot out front and extra parking at the school next door. The cost is $12.

There are a few spots available so if you'd like to come, please email M-R (quiltmatters {at} gmail {dot} com). See you there!

Also, the information on our first fabric swap is up on Flickr.

OMQG Bee Info Is Up on Flickr

Photo: #diyhumor
It was great to see the turnout at Monday's meeting and meet so many modern quilting enthusiasts in person!

While an email was sent directly to bee participants so they have the email addresses of their bee mates, the information about the Bees are also up on Flickr:

Bee 1

Bee 2

There is one spot open in Bee 2 so send M-R an email (quiltmatters at gmail dot com - replace the at and dot) if you'd like it. If you missed the meeting and would like to join a bee, review the rules and guidelines for bee 1 or 2 and send M-R an email, indicating your interest. If there are seven people interested, we could make another bee.

First order of business for bee members is to figure out which month you'd like to be Queen Bee. Please post your preference on your Bee discussion thread in Flickr (not here) and I'll update the schedules accordingly.

Also, maybe y'all could think of a better name for your bee?

Stay tuned for Sew-In and Text swap info later today or tomorrow... :)

This Is The Plan, Stan!

Photo: #diyhumor #colors #fabricshopping

Hi all, our next meeting is this Monday, October 28th! Remember, we're at the Loblaws on McArthur Ave this month, up in the Community Room. Also, there is no outside food or drink allowed, but you can bring stuff up from the store below.

We've got a fun program planned. In addition to a show and share and other fun modern quilting newsie bits like our first Sew-In (!), there will be two breakouts -- one talking about Zakka and one talking about Modern Design.

Each discussion will have a designated lead, but we want these sessions to be interactive so if you have any books, projects or other resources along these themes, please bring them to share!

See you Monday!
