We're offering 3 workshops for the 2023-24 season. Registration will open in September.

The Bold Curve with Tamara Kate - done

Date:
Sunday, October 22, 2023
Time: 6 hour workshop, 10 am - 4:30 pm
Location: Nepean Centerpointe Library, Room 1B

Big, bold, colourful large scale curves can be so liberating to create! Incorporate a bit of improv piecing and the result is a dynamic, eyecatching, unique quilt that speaks volumes about the maker’s personality. Learn the techniques Tamara uses to plan, cut and execute this style of modern quilt (no appliqué involved) while interjecting your own creativity into the mix. We will also cover a bit of colour theory to achieve the look of transparency.

This workshop will be held in person.

Learn how to tackle 8 pointed stars and create your own version of a scrappy Lone Star quilt. In this class we will cover Y-seams, sewing bias edges and how to nest angled seams to create precise points. We will learn how to scale the design, and go over different types of layouts from traditional to off center grids. Students will work on a mini quilt and learn the techniques of construction that can be applied to any size Lone Star.

Level: Intermediate to advanced
